Warranty information & limitation of liability for T-Gauge products
by
The Railway Shop (HK):

Warranty coverage is offered for specific T-Gauge items directly by The Railway Shop, the "manufacturer", licensees of K.K. Eishindo (Japan). Neither TrainAidsA nor The Railway Shop can be held liable for any warranty, loss or damage issues directly or indirectly.

Coverage: Motorized & Unmotorized Cars and the Control Box are covered for 90 days against manufacturing defects.

The Manufacturer, at its discretion, or TrainAidsA (its agent), at their discretion, will repair or replace, the items determined to have manufacturing defects, as determined by the Manufacturer, but limited to Motorized & Unmotorized Cars and the Control Box.

The original customer must disclose, to TrainAidsA, such defect within 90 (Ninety) days of the purchase date, calculated from the date the payment was made by the original purchaser. The warranty provided by the Manufacturer applies only to original purchaser and the covered items purchased from TrainAidsA, and does not include finish, packaging or other parts.

The warranty does not extend to any item which has been subjected to misuse, neglect, accident, improper use or installation or attempted repair or modification by anyone other than the Manufacturer, nor does it extend to accessories used therewith not manufactured by The Railway Shop or approved suppliers.

For specific steps for T-Gauge warranty procedure, see below. All Shipping & shipping related fees and other related matters are the responsibility of the customer. TrainAidsA is not responsible for any aspects of shipping as related to warranty claims, except for the cost of return shipping to the customer, by normal First Class Air Mail. The manufacturer (or TrainAidsA) will return any such item/s ONLY via First Class Post Office Mail. The warranty process at the Manufacturer (or TrainAidsA), may take a minimum of two weeks (excluding time taken in transit), however an exact timeline cannot be provided. This information may be updated from time to time as per the policies of the Manufacturer.

Procedure/Steps for Warranty Repairs:

1) Customer should inform TrainAidsA via email (or by a letter/post) about the problem noticed in either a Motorized Unit or the Control Box, which was purchased from TrainAidsA or from a TrainAidsA dealer as listed above.

2) TrainAidsA will assist the customer via email or phone to try and fix the issue(s). TrainAidsA feels that this step helps the customer better understand the simple maintenance needed for the cars and other equipment.

3) If the above steps are unsuccessful, US & Canadian customers would be advised to mail the equipment to TrainAidsA in Maryland (USA) as instructed. Customers in other countries may need to mail the items straight to the manufacturer, in Hong Kong, after receiving authorization from TrainAidsA.

4) If it is determined that the item requires repair at The Railway Shop facilities, the customer will be advised accordingly, and the item would need to be mailed to Hong Kong for repairs. This process can take 2-4 weeks depending on variables, for example, shipping.

5) The item will be returned to the customer, when it has been repaired or replaced, as determined by the Manufacturer.

Note: TrainAidsA does not provide "loaner" equipment for the duration of the repair cycle. However, it may be possible at a nominal charge, under special circumstances. Customer is advised to contact TrainAidsA with details of the circumstances that require such a facility.

Procedure/Steps for Non Warranty Repairs:

Note: Repairs or attempted warranty repairs carried out by dealers, or by customers themselves, will not be automatically accepted by the Manufacturer for corrective action, but will be treated as "out-of-warranty" repairs to be paid for by the customer.

a) Customer should inform TrainAidsA via email about the problem noticed or repair required.

b) TrainAidsA would arrange for an estimate from The Railway Shop.

c) Payment is required in advance together with any special return mailing desired. Items are returned to the customer by The Railway Shop via First Class Air Parcel Post only. If any other service such as tracking, express mail or courier services are required for return shipping, prior estimate should be requested and payment made together with the payment for the repairs requested.

d) The item will need to be mailed by the customer, in a crush proof container, and should include their complete "Postal" return address, via First Class Air Parcel Post to the Manufacturers Service & Repair Facility at the following address:

Railway Shop Repair Center
1/F, Flat A, Win Sun Mfg. Bldg.
