C/M or K Track (Mini) Screws

The Head of the K Track Mini Screw is just about perfect so as to fit between the Railroad "Ties" on the N-GAUGE KATO UNITRACK. The photo shows side-view of the K Track Mini Screw. It looks like it is sticking out further than it actually is! Screw will need a hard surface to grip to.
The K Track (Mini) screw extends 0.177 inches (4.49 mm) below the surface as shown, without any additional countersinking.

C/M or K Track (Mini) Screws

In this picture, the head of the C/M/TT Screw is a little larger to fit in between the Railroad Ties and therefore sits up a little. Doesn‚t create the same visual effect as the attached photo. Note on Countersinking shows a simple method of making the countersinking a bit more easier. The screw projections below the track, could be more if the screws are better countersunk using the method suggested or by some other process.

The C/M/TT screw extends 0.275 inches (7.00 mm) below the surface as shown, without any additional countersinking.

K Track (Mini) Screw Tips

Tips by Donnie Joule

I am using Homasote 400 for reducing noise on my layout and the Mini screw is a perfect fit for this method of construction.

I strongly suggest that the hole for the Mini screw be drilled through the existing stem, from below, using a # 56 drill bit and a 7 inch drill. The screw head fits between the ties. See picture. I have used them for double track as well.

I did use the drill with the #56 drill bit for both screws and found the smaller screw better to deal with. The C/M screw does not easily come out of the track with the hole predrilled by a #56 bit. However, it is usable and the track can be re-screwed on the baseboard. This is due to the smooth shank that spins the screw in the stem. My choice is the small K (Mini) screw.
