A Light Emitting Diode (LED) is now the preferred technology for illumination. LEDs consume less power, do not heat up and produce a stronger light while lasting much longer.
Most of our products are Plug-n-Play with the resistor integrated into the assembly. The individual C5 and SMD LEDs need voltage & current control. C5 packages include resistors for use with 9-19v DC.
For conversion from incandescent lamps/bulbs, we have introduced a variety of LEDs. E5 and C5 are designed to replace older bulbs. The Strips, which are also Plug-n-Play, use SMD type LEDs, the C5, E5, W5, W3's are glass dome type. Dome types produce a narrow directional forward illumination. SMD's produce a wider angle of illumination.

Notes:
For AC & DCC users: To use our strips with AC power as in Märklin, or in situations where you would like them to light up in forward and backward movement (positive/negative polarity change), we suggest you feed the power via a rectifier to neutralize the flickering or polarity change. ACW (see below) wire connector that has a built-in rectifier, is our suggestion. But you may also add a mini rectifier that can also be ordered via our Elektrizmos section.

Power Pickup for Cars:
An exact fit may not be available for many specific axle/wheel wiper installations. Axle/Wheel Wipers have been created by many modellers to suit their needs. Click Here for one suggestion for DC system users, based on modifying Märklin axle wipers that are available off-the-shelf from any Märklin dealer and also from our Märklin Section.
C5 - Cartridge Base(Designed and produced by TrainAidsA)
Use as replacement in Locomotives, Turnouts, Vehicles, Trackside Accessories & other locations. 5mm dia. LEDs, without built in resistor. Similar mount as Marklin 600100 (5mm dia. base). Resistors supplied with LEDs and included in price.

SMD-3528 LEDs(Designed and produced by TrainAidsA)
SMD (Surface Mount) LEDs individually prepared for your convenience with 18in. (50cm) long wire leads pre-soldered to each.
As they have a wider angle of illumination, they are great for installation in a variety of locations in your layout, cars, stations, inside buildings, behind windows or in signals. Long wire leads allow wiring through the baseboard without any joints to worry about.
Save on soldering time and trouble!.

S5 - 5v Lighting Strip

5v version of our S12 SMD Lighting Strip (below) for passenger cars. "Plug-n-Play" for use with 3-6v DC.
Provides full strength illumination at 5-6v. Lower intensity at 3-4.9v. For 6v to 19v, we suggest using S12 strips. Dimensions and other characteristics, same as S12 (see below). Connector wire 10cm/4 in. long. Works with AC, but can also be used with a rectifier, built into the ACW (below) connector wire.

S12 - 12v
Lighting Strip (Previously Item S-10)(Designed and produced by TrainAidsA)
SMD Lighting Strip for passenger cars. "Plug-n-Play" for use with 6v-19v DC and will work without any additional circuitry.
Lower than 12v will deliver slightly lower intensity of illumination. Reduce current for voltages higher than 18v for use upto 27v. by adding our 5R180 Resistor. See these in our "Elektrizmos" Section.
Used as is, in Marklin AC, and by our customers with DC/DCC as well. However, many prefer to use with ACW (see below). Our wire connector that has a built in mini-rectifier. That converts the power to DC. Connect two strips for longer passenger cars. Connect more for other uses such as background lighting, long stretches as platform lighting or illumination undel the layout table.
Strips can also be cut in half for adjustment to total length required or for shorter lengths for example for a Caboose/Guard Van. Half the strip (5cm/2 in.) will work just as normally as a complete one. Visit our Gallery section for ideas.
