1. LEDs for Lionel:
E10, L3, L1T & L2S LEDs work great with: L_Logo-lg

LEDs can replace the bulbs in Lionel Switches and Controllers (old and new both) and are also suitable for other locations. Bulbs get hot and use much more electricity than LEDs. In our effort to help customers get what they want and also to be more "Green", we introduced LEDs that can replace those White, Red and Green bulbs. All these are suitable for current flow in any direction and for AC/DC as they have built in resistors and rectifiers.

E10 & L3 LEDs
The E10 (screw type) and L3 (bayonet type) LEDs have a round top. They can replace the bulb and the colored cover both, with the correct colors and shape (See picture). The dome/lens covers were used to color the light that was produced by white bulbs. With these LEDs, you get the shape and the color, at the same time.
Click picture for an enlarged view:

L1T & L2S
These two types are flat topped LEDs, hence shorter in length. L1T is with bayonet base and L2S with screw base. These are suggested for use with the dome/lens covers on. Once the bulb is replaced with the LED, the cover can be put back on. See Installation Guide lower down.

Note:
E10 & L2S LEDs fit Bulb Sockets: 52, 258, 428, 432, 1446 & 1447
Use L2S where shorter length is needed. See dimensional differences in the photo.

L3 & L1T LEDs fit Bulb Sockets: 53, 57, 182, 257, 363, 1445 & 6253
Use L1T where shorter length is required like under the colored domes/lenses.
Please clarify the type required. The prices are the same and we can switch them as needed.

L1T, L2S, L3 & E10 LEDs

These LEDs in all three colors are dual polarity, designed for either DC polarity or even AC.
They have rectifiers built into their bases and can be used in situations where the bottom is positive or negative and also in systems that use AC power source.

Use as replacement in Locomotives, Switches, Controllers, Turnouts, Vehicles, Trackside Accessories & other locations.

Physical Comparison
of L1T, E5 and E10 LED Sizes:

Comparison of LED Sizes: L1T (Left), E5 (Center) and E10 (Right) E5 (center) have a base
of 5.5mm diameter and
E10 (right) have a base
of 10mm diameter.

Note: These are not sold as a pack of 3. This picture is just to demonstrate the difference in sizes of the three types.

Step 1 for Lionel Controllers/Switches Step 1

Remove Colored domes/lenses to reveal the Bulb inside. If you have screw type Bulbs, we have screw base LEDs also.
Step 1 for Lionel Controllers/Switches Step 2

Domes/Lenses removed. Now the Bulbs inside are accessible.

The process is the same for changing Bulbs in Lanterns.
Step 1 for Lionel Controllers/Switches Step 3

The Bulbs are then removed.
Step 1 for Lionel Controllers/Switches Step 4

Insert the Flat Top LEDs.
L1T in White, if you wish to keep the colored Domes/Lenses. Colored round bulbs are also available if you do not wish to re-use the Domes/Lenses.
The Flat Top are recommended for Lanterns.
Step 5 for Replacing LEDs Step 5

Replace the colored Domes/Lenses over the Flat Top LEDs.

If you wish to eliminate the Domes/Lenses, then please select L3 type colored LEDs.
